Days 1 to 3: Rest and Early Healing
The first few days are focused entirely on rest. Swelling, bruising, and mild to moderate discomfort are normal and expected during this stage. If drains have been placed, Dr. Jindal's team will provide clear instructions on how to manage them at home. Mobility is limited, and patients will need assistance with daily tasks during this period.
Compression garment guidance: Your compression garment should be worn continuously during this stage, day and night, removing it only to shower. It plays an active role in controlling swelling, supporting the treated tissue, and helping the skin conform to its new contour.
Weeks 1 to 2: Swelling Peaks and Begins to Subside
Swelling typically reaches its peak within the first one to two weeks before gradually beginning to resolve. Most patients begin to feel more comfortable moving around the home and can manage light, non-strenuous daily activities. Strenuous movement, exercise, and heavy lifting remain off-limits during this stage.
Compression garment guidance: Continue wearing your compression garment full-time through week two. Dr. Jindal will advise at your follow-up appointment whether you are ready to transition to daytime-only wear.
Weeks 3 to 4: Returning to Light Work and Daily Activities
By weeks three and four, most patients feel well enough to return to light work and resume normal daily routines. Swelling continues to reduce noticeably during this period, and early contouring results begin to become visible. Dr. Jindal will assess your healing at your follow-up appointment and clear you for gradually increasing activity as appropriate.
Compression garment guidance: Many patients transition to daytime-only compression wear during this stage, removing the garment at night. Dr. Jindal will confirm the right schedule based on how your healing is progressing.
Months 2 to 3: Resuming Exercise and Seeing Early Results
Most patients are cleared to return to exercise and more demanding physical activity by the second month, beginning with low-impact options and building gradually. Swelling continues to resolve, and contours become increasingly visible as the treated areas settle. Most patients can return to normal activities after about three to four weeks, with meaningful results in approximately six weeks.
Compression garment guidance: By this stage, most patients no longer require full-time compression wear. Dr. Jindal may recommend continued use during exercise or extended periods of activity to support the healing tissue.
Months 4 to 6: Final Results
Residual swelling fully resolves during this period, and final liposuction results become visible. Skin continues to retract and conform to the underlying contour, and the full outcome of your procedure can be properly assessed.
